An exemplar of a good CL email response
I recently posted an ad on CL in the style of:
Me: [blah blah blah]
You: [blah blah]
The fine print: [blah]
This evening, I got this fantastic response:
Me: I have a great smile and contagious laugh. I like to have a good time in and out of bed, strong enough to get rough, smart enough to know when to do so and when not to! Plenty of finesse, knows how to touch a woman. You: Not 'crazy', not fake, truly looking for a casual encounter with a good man looking for safe fun. Seeking a man that is just as interested in pleasing his partner as he is about having his needs met as well. Giver and receiver! The fine print: Non-smoker, not married, not old (29). Always wear protection, always. Would never meet someone off CL w/o emailing back and forth. If you're serious about meeting someone to play with, email me!
He does all the things I look for: He shows he read my ad, is responding to me, not some generic woman, and demonstrates both wit and the promise of a good personality.
If this is you, you're about to get an email from my actual (not cluechick@gmail.com) email address. Don't spill the beans, okay?

Comments
Good response.
He's lucky. You're an actual, living, breathing woman.
I can't tell you how many times I've written replies in the same vein only to get "Hey, hey, hey...thx for the e-mail..lol...I'm on cam now! What would u like me 2 do? www.nocashcams.com/sexyamandais yours..."
Sigh...

I have also given up. Even in the dating section its all ads and spam.
When I post, I get spam answers and gay men.
Whats a guy to do?

Yup, the few times I've been tempted to try craigslist CL, when I actually did get responses to thoughtful messages, they were from obviously fake posters like the one you quote.
What's a guy to do? Avoid craigslist CL; try other sites instead.

Guys,
There is a technique to identifying the "real" ads. Now I'm not the self-proclaimed master of Craigslist and I still get auto-replies from the Bots; however, I have also made successful matches. Please excuse me if this has been covered in the Blog before, but I thought it might be helpful to my fellow CL Brethren.
More often than not, a real woman will be more verbose than the spammers. She is looking for something particular, so she needs to articulate it accordingly. Spammers will typically be brief. If the message is under 4 sentences ... its almost always spam.
Real women typically want a specific age range. Spammers often list a huge age range or will say "looks/age not important".
Most real women (with a few exceptions) don't want pictures of your shined up wanker. If the ad specifically requests such a thing, its usually the gay male trolling for pics.
Finally, most real women tend to use better grammar in their ads. Aside from the truly young ones, most women will go through the painstaking effort to actually write "you" instead of "u", "are" instead of "r", and will use proper punctuation and captilization.
All-in-all, my best results are from posting my own ad. However, by looking for long, descriptive ads with good grammar, I can eliminate 90% of the ads and my hit rate is much higher.
Don't give up. There are great, good looking women out there. Good luck to ya'!

Here's what I've noticed in Denver CL - now almost every w4m ad gets flagged within 30 minutes - there are several that I know are real because I've been lucky enough to get an email off before the ad gets flagged off. Then women post complaining about getting flagged, and that post gets flagged as well.
Denver CE is dying on the vine now, it's all m4m or m4w ads.
