Welcome to the launch of ClueChick.com!
I am J M Nelson, one of the contributors here at ClueChick. And you're probably wondering who the heck I am. In short, I am a writing enthusiast who is honing her craft and exploring new ways of creating and distributing my work.
Since ClueChick is brand new, I thought I'd start with some quick Q&A about myself and my own goals for this site.
What is ClueChick? -
ClueChick was a Blog project suggested to me by my dear friend to challenge our desires to write. It is our intent to set goals and be held accountable to each other and our audience.
My personal goal here is to post 1 Chapter (at least) a week until I complete the story. At the end, I hope to keep going from scratch with a new story. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
Who is J M Nelson? -
I am a 28 year old woman, recently married (coming up on our one year anniversary). I have no children (yet) but I do have two fluffy kitties and one mouthy Miniature Pinscher.
How Long Have you Been Writing? -
All of my life. Even before I could officially write, I was filling notebooks with scribbly, looping lines wishing that I could. That love grew into journaling nonstop from the age of 10-18 and then life caught up with me. As a teenager, I wrote primarily poetry and short stories, but as an adult I have focused more on the novel format.
What Do You Write? -
Well, I wish I still had the poetry bug, but it left me a long time ago. I primarily write fiction fantasy. I am finding that I am best at young adult fantasy/occult and that's really where I'm focusing my writing at the present time.
What Are You Currently Working On? -
I presently have a 1st draft YA Occult book being reviewed by some volunteers and I hope to be fixing it up in the near future to then begin the process of finding an agent for it.
As far as ClueChick goes, I will be delivering to you an entirely new piece which, for now, I am calling, "Oriole." No spoilers here, however, the first chapter will be up (hopefully) this Friday evening.
What Is Your Favorite Color? -
Green
Who Are Your Favorite Authors? -
Lewis Carroll seconded by Neil Gaiman
What Are Your All-Time Favorite Books? -
Alice Through the Looking Glass, Neverwhere and The Color of Magic
What Was the Last Book You Read? -
I am going to count audio books here too since I have more time at work to consume literature. Last one of those was Soulless by Gail Carriger recommended by a friend of mine. I highly recommend it if you're into Steam-Punk, Vampires, Werewolves and kick-butt chicks with parasols.
Thank-you for taking a look around ClueChick. I hope to see you back soon!
